MISSION ALERT: Google is Moving Local Service Ads.
If your home services business relies on Local Services Ads, your account is entering a new phase and if you're not prepared, the transition could cost you valuable data, disrupt performance, and leave your campaigns exposed.
Google is migrating LSA into Google Ads through Performance Max.
Here’s what you need to know:
The Migration Timeline
→ August 2026: Select U.S. home and storefront services, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, appliance repair, cleaning, lawn care, roofing, pest control, and moving.
→ Late 2026: Service-area businesses without storefronts, plus accounts using custom bidding or booking setups.
→ 2027: Non-U.S. accounts and remaining account types.
What Stays The Same
Pay-per-lead pricing. Search and Maps placements. Keywordless targeting.
You’ll still pay for leads, not clicks.
But the real threat isn't what stays the same.
It’s what changes.
5 Risks You Need on Your Radar
1. YOUR PERFORMANCE HISTORY MAY DISAPPEAR.
Your lead records transfer. Your historical performance reports do not.
Once your account migrates, the LSA dashboard redirects to Google Ads and your historical reporting is gone.
Export your data before your migration date.
2. YOUR WEEKLY BUDGET BECOMES A DAILY BUDGET.
Your weekly budget is divided by 7 to establish your daily average, with a monthly cap based on that daily amount.
If you don't understand the new budget structure, your spend could behave differently than expected.
3. YOUR BIDDING STRATEGY IS CHANGING.
Manual CPL bidding and vertical-level target CPA are being deprecated.
If you've been managing different tCPA targets across verticals within one account, Google may consolidate them into a single campaign-level target.
The tactical response?
Separate campaigns by vertical.
Many advertisers won't realize this until performance starts shifting.
4. YOUR GOOGLE BUSINESS PROFILE CAN TRIGGER A CAMPAIGN PAUSE.
GBP data will now sync one way into your ads.
Significant changes to your business name or address can trigger a verification review, potentially pausing your campaign for 24–48 hours.
Planning a rebrand or moving locations?
Timing matters.
5. BBB CALLOUTS ARE GONE.
You'll need to replace them with at least six structured callouts in your Assets tab.
Small detail.
Potentially overlooked.
But these are exactly the kinds of details that get missed during a platform transition.
Your Orders Before Migration
Google says you'll receive a 14-day email notice before your account moves.
It also recommends allowing up to two weeks after migration for performance to stabilize.
That means you have a window to prepare.
Don't wait until your account is already in the field.
Audit your setup. Export your historical data. Review your campaigns. Confirm your budgets. Check your bidding strategy. Prepare for verification delays.
Because when your lead generation system is responsible for keeping your crews booked, a disruption in visibility can quickly become a disruption in revenue.
At Spartan Digital, we're conducting migration readiness reviews across our client portfolio to identify vulnerabilities before they become expensive problems.
If you're running Local Services Ads and want a second set of eyes before your migration wave hits, it's time to get your account on the radar.
Prepare now. Protect your lead flow. Stay ahead of the transition.
